Reuben completed his undergraduate degree in Materials Science and Engineering at Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) in 2011. He went on to obtain his PhD at the National University of Singapore in 2016, under the supervision of Prof. C. S. Bhatia, where his research focused on optimizing the properties of ultrathin diamond-like amorphous carbon nanocoatings for advanced magnetic hard disk drives and tape drives for enhanced tribological and corrosion protection. In November 2016, Reuben joined the group of Prof. Holger Frauenrath at the Laboratory of Macromolecular and Organic Materials (LMOM) in EPFL. He is currently investigating the material properties of carbon monolayers obtained from the conversion of self-assembled reactive molecular precursors.
